Past few years have made more people make a decision to resort to using different tools to protect their privacy on the Internet. Majority is uncertain of the way to go, so they are weighing the decision between private browsing and using VPN. What is the difference and can it save their privacy?
What is VPN and how it Works?
VPN is a Virtual Private Network, which connects a device to the internet at large. This connection is encrypted which means device has more solid and multiple layers of protection, since it camouflages users IP address. IP or Internet Protocol address is identifying number assigned to each computer signing in to the internet, like an ID for the person. It allows device to communicate to others on Internet. Through IP address, hacker can see additional information like a location of the device, browsing habits of the user and everything else connected to personal data.
VPN can reduce the possibility of computer being under siege, but it cannot give 100 % protection. There will always be a small amount of logged files, running through the internet noise. If someone is set to catch that log file he will succeed. Much like a fisherman waiting patiently for someone to catch on his hook.
VPN providers claim they do not log files, when in fact engineers say that a minimal amount of logging is necessary to optimize and keep the system or the network running. Most of us don’t read privacy policy, which in small letters clearly says contradictory to what they promise. Anonymous browsing is equivalent to chasing unicorns.
Some providers even go that far to store all of user’s personal data on their servers, and generating profit by selling them to other companies who will spam your device with advertisement.
What is Private Browsing and how it Works?
Private Browsing is a privacy oriented future in the Web Browsers. It ensures that the Browser does not store history, login, or anything else you typed into search. Each Browser like Chrome, Opera, Mozilla Firefox and others have similar function in regard to this feature. Mozilla for example has additional feature added, prevents sites in collecting your browsing habits. It does not necessarily mean that you are safe, only adds another layer of precaution.
Privacy Software
Privacy software is designed to scan and check privacy risks, pin-point private information. PC Privacy Shield is designed to protect your personal information, detect malicious threats in real time and lets you clean them before they cause any further damage. PC Privacy Shield also stops advertiser from prying, which means automatically deletes cookies advertisers place on your PC to monitor your habits and behaviors. Phishing scams and Identity Theft are most common crimes today, PC Privacy Shield guards you against Internet frauds, deletes login credentials and any trace of your Internet presence.
Users are not trying to be anonymous, they respect their privacy especially in a noisy world of the Internet. Imagine someone daily visiting your home to give you pamphlets regarding certain products. They keep returning and you actually don’t want them there in the first place. You just want your privacy to be respected.
Therefore, there is no such thing as 100% anonymity in the digital world of masquerades. You can barely hide your identity beneath the VPN’s, Private Browsing and numerous parading cookies. But, what you can do is do your best to stop advertisers from using your behavior and with it expose your personal identity to thieves for profit.
